Drivers now have a new and innovative way to control their own Pennsylvania Auto Insurance rates. It's called the Snapshot discount and it's only available from Progressive. The three main qualifiers are annual mileage driven not to exceed 15,000, the vehicle is not operated regularly between the hours of 12:00 am and 4:00 am and you do not have infrequent hard braking or quick acceleration.  You must also have a valid email address. Besides Progressive's competitive Preferred rates, drivers who qualify and enroll in the program can save up to an additional 30% off their rates! {The Average Discount in Pennsylvania is between 10-15%}

If you accept the Snapshot Program, in about 10 days you will receive the device directly from Progressive, which includes instructions on how to plug in the device as well as the mailing label and packaging to return the device at your renewal. You will need to install it under the dash board in the main diagnostic port. This device will not harm your vehicle, and should your vehicle need to be serviced by a mechanic, please just ask them to plug it back in. You leave it in for the remainder of your policy term. The device will communicate directly to Progressive. Just continue to drive as usual at the normal times for you. This device is not a GPS so Progressive will not be able to determine where you are, nor will it be used to determine if you speed. After 30 days you can log onto Progressive’s website and track your driving habits.  They also apply an initial discount after 30 days based on the data. At the end of the policy term, you can simply return the device in the original package it was shipped in and Progressive will apply the applicable discount at renewal which will remain on your account for the life of the policy. Failure to return the device will result in a $50 fee. It's that easy!  Also, please note Progressive cannot increase your rates based on the data gathered from the Snapshot device, there would just be no discount given….you really have nothing to lose!
