PRIMARY FUNCTION
Handle all aspects of commercial insurance accounts.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Receive and return phone calls in timely and courteous manner; providing customer service effectively and efficiently.

2. Modify, update and process existing policies and claims to reflect any change in coverage, type of insurance, or additional information.

3. Process and record new insurance policies and claims, diary and follow up any changes.

4. Organize and work with detailed office records, maintaining records for each policyholder, including policies that are to be reinstated or canceled.

5. Examine letters from policyholders or agents, original insurance applications, and other company documents to determine if changes are needed and effects of changes.

6. Correspond with insured and companies to obtain information or inform them of account status or changes.

7. Enter data into computer for use in preparing documents and adjusting accounts.

8. Notify insurance company of policy cancellation, policy changes or claims.

9. Compare information from application to confirm coverage, identify any errors, or changes necessary.

10. Represent agency in an ethical, professional, courteous manner.

11. Be reliable and dependable team player.

12. Follow JYA policies and procedures.

13. Assist in housekeeping as needed.

14. Other transactions as required by department.

15. Collect and record payments for services rendered.

Other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

- Knowledge of processes for providing customer and personal services, principles and methods for promoting and selling products.

- Ability to manage one's own time and others time.

- Strong oral and written communication skills.

- Ability to listen and speak effectively to others.

- Ability to think critically and make appropriate decisions and solve problems - know when to request assistance from management.

- Knowledge of English language, understand written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.

Credentials and Experience

High School Diploma.

Minimum one year experience.

Valid Property and Casualty License.

Work Environment/Equipment

Office environment - computer, printer, telephone, fax, copier, alarm system, postage machine.

Applied Systems

Microsoft Word

Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP

Office equipment and programs as required.

Physical Requirements

Visual skills to read and interpret reports and data recording.

Manual dexterity to operate computer and calculator.

Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Hearing and speaking skills as required.
