Minimum federal standards for all state-issued driver’s licenses and ID cards are changing, including CDL licenses. These standards will impact things like entering a federal building, military base, or boarding a domestic flight.
Enforcement of the REAL ID Act starts October 1st, 2020. While you will be able to use another form of federally-acceptable identification such as a valid passport or military ID, the most convenient form of identification for most people will be the REAL ID.
Starting in March, Pennsylvania residents will be able to get a REAL ID at a “Full Service” Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Driver’s Licensing Center.
