Pennsylvania Title – Seller Requirements*

What we can offer you?
  • In most cases we will process the title transfer instantly removing the vehicle from your name.
  • Provide you a copy of the completed title as proof of the transaction.
What do you need to do?
  • Current Photo Identification (i.e. Driver’s License, State ID, Military ID, or US Passport).
  • Actual Pennsylvania title.
  • Odometer reading.
  • Vehicles in a business name need a typed authorization letter on company letterhead signed by the Owner/Officer of the company.

Pennsylvania Title – Buyer Requirements*

If you registered the vehicle we will give you the new registration card and/or any plate or registration sticker that would apply to your transaction. If there was not a lienholder involved in your transaction you should receive your title in approximately 7-10 business days.
What do you need to do?
  • Present current Pennsylvania Driver’s License or Pennsylvania ID.
  • Present current proof of insurance in the buyer’s name for the vehicle type being transferred if the vehicle is being registered. Insurance ID card, Declarations Page or VIN specific binder would be acceptable.
  • Provide plate number for any plate being transferred by the buyer to the new vehicle

NOTE: Plates can only be transferred between self, spouse, parent and child and plate owner must be present and have valid identification.

Out of State Title Buyer Requirements*

If there was not a lienholder involved in your transaction you should receive your title in approximately 7-10 business days. The vehicle will need a Pennsylvania inspection within 10 days.
What do you need to do?
  • When purchasing a vehicle from another state the title will need to be assigned to you in the manner shown on the title. Some states require notarization on the title and other states do not.
  • If purchased from a dealership, a detailed Bill of Sale will need to be provided.
  • Buyer will need a Current Pennsylvania Driver’s License, Pennsylvania ID or Military ID
  • Current proof of Pennsylvania insurance in the buyer’s name for the vehicle type being transferred if the vehicle is being registered. Insurance ID card, Declarations Page or VIN specific binder would be acceptable.

  • Weight verification can vary depending on the paperwork. If the weights are not listed on the title you will need to have the vehicle weighed to know the accurate unladen weight, however, most vehicles do provide the GVWR on the door/sticker panel.
  • VIN can be done by bringing the vehicle with you to the notary, doing a pencil tracing or having Form MV-41 filled out by an inspection mechanic or an out-of-state police officer.

New PA Resident*

Intransit Plates*

What we can offer you?
  • We can provide a 30 day registration plate to you. This will allow you to transport the vehicle home when a vehicle is purchased in Pennsylvania by a non-resident.
  • We will instantly process the transaction and provide the buyer with a 30 day cardboard plate and registration card. The seller will receive a copy of the completed title for their records.
What do you need to do?
  • Buyer and Seller should both be present unless the seller’s section was previously notarized within 60 days.
  • Seller will need valid ID, the title, and the odometer reading.
  • Buyer will need a valid out-of-state driver’s license or valid out-of-state identification card and valid insurance.

Bill Of Sale*

  • A bill of sale may be completed and notarized at the time of transfer to retain for your records.
